Growing Options for Kid Furniture

I'm continuously impressed with the selection of furniture for children's rooms. It's more and more creative, sophisticated and makes me excited to eventually {no trying to rush!} doing a bedroom for Jake.

Kitchen Staples

I love when magazines high light a well known designer or celebrity and the list of things they "can't live with out"...it always makes me wonder, what would my list include? Well, the first things that come to mind happen to all be in my kitchen. What are your kitchen staples?

Spring Contrast Stripe Dishcloth, Set of 4, Blue
William Sonoma Dish Towels here
The colors are always fresh and these are absorbent. Plus, who doesn't love a set of stripes hanging around?

William Sonoma Pop-up Sponges here
I grew up with these sponges and love them to this day. I switch mine out every few weeks and something seems organic and homey about them.

NEST Grapefruit Candle
Nest Grapefruit Candle here
A perfect creation. This light grapefruit scent has a nice subtly about it and has a cozy appeal too.

Mrs. Meyer's Lavender Hand Soap here
This line of products is fantastic and has the nicest scent. I stock up on this soap and have it stashed all over my house.

Stemless Wine Glass
Crate & Barrel Stemless Wine Glass here
Less then $3 - need I say more?
Seeds of Change Microwave Rice
Easy, healthy and did I say easy? You just pop in the microwave for 90 seconds and done! I love that I don't have to use any dishes or pots. So nice - and tasty too.

Sur La Table Navy Woven Placemat here
Another under $5 goody. These have a nice texture and they are practical too - easy to clean and store.

Outfitting a Bar Cart

I recently purchased a bar cart for my dining room and I can't wait to get it all dolled up. I'm thinking some special glass wear, a plant of sorts, a few fitting accessories and booze {of course}.

This is the beauty {below} waiting to be decorated - from Serena and Lily.

Yummy Prints at Rikshaw

Loving the new items at Rikshaw Design - perfect timing as the weather starts to warm up. And if you haven't heard of this fabulous company, you have to check it out, they have everything from baby clothes, to bedding and loungewear. My favorite item is the classic kurta - they are super light weight and comfy for pool or beach outings.

Eat this!

My friend passed along a delicious recipe - shredded brussel sprout salad. It's beyond tasty and could function as breakfast, lunch or dinner. Yummy - happy weekend!

I didn't take a pic, but should have. This is similar enough - from pinterest.

What you need:
-a bundle of brussel sprouts
-a few slices of bacon
-one chopped shallot
-olive oil
-eggs

I'm pretty relaxed when it comes to measuring out things when cooking, so here is my version:
1. Clean burssel sprouts (chop off tip and peal off first layer of leaves) then chop up in to shreds
2. Heat pan over medium low and throw in a few slices of bacon (I did 3)
3. When they begin to crisp up, add in the shallots, sprouts and a nice pour of oil
4. While cooking I sort of broke up the bacon in pieces. Once everything was nicely mixed and sauteed, I seasoned with salt and pepper, then set aside.
5. Now is the fun part - cherry on top if you will. Fry an egg and top each portion of the salad....amazing!!!

Weekly Snapshots

A look in to my week....
Yeah for Friday and weekend fun!

It's green! I finally decided on my dining room walls - a grass cloth in a grass green. I'm so happy with the turn out! That mirror will be hung soon and it pops so nicely off the green walls.

I've tweaked my kitchen eating area - finally covered the chair seats with a fun navy geometric and put up window treatments {which I loooove!}. They make the space so much cozier.

My big boy. Jake is almost 7 months old and sitting up now...where does the time go?
